(How SafeBoda is impacting mobility within African communities)

The “butterfly effect" explains how little actions can cause ripple effects and contribute to major occurrences. Tapping the screen of a smartphone might not take a lot of effort, but the butterfly effect is if this tap gives you access to quality services; like a smooth ride from where you are to where you need to be.

The convenience that SafeBoda offers is made available to thousands of people in Africa irrespective of their socioeconomic class. SafeBoda is making ride-hailing work in two prominent African cities: Kampala and Ibadan, both in Uganda and Nigeria respectively. Making it possible for everyone to access safe and affordable rides.

In between the mobile app and the customers are men who are popularly referred to as SafeBodas. Heroes who wear orange helmets instead of capes.

What does each ride mean to these men?

They are perceived differently. The Okada or Boda business isn’t categorized to be prestigious within African communities. But with a touch of orange, the story is different.

SafeBoda riders are highly regarded and respected, not just because of the color but because of their conduct.

Better income equals healthier families. SafeBoda riders and their families have access to a more quality lifestyle because of the increased earning power of these riders.

A community you can count on! The brand crest on the helmets and jackets of these riders is a sacred creed they pledge allegiance to. The riders have each other’s back in a way that can make you conclude that the color of love is orange.
